I think it would be better if the One R had a non-360 mode like the GoPro MAX, or had a core that could support both a 360 module and the non-360 4K module so that I could quickly switch between the two shooting modes. However, I found that I seldom had the time to reconfigure the One R in the field, especially the 1-inch module, which requires removing the front element to switch modules. Also new for the One R app is an editor that can import and combine photos and videos not just from the One R but also from your camera’s gallery - including your smartphone photos and videos, but also theoretically any other camera from any manufacturer.Īs for the modular aspect, I love the versatility of being able to have a non-360 camera for situations that don’t require multiple angles or the stabilization of a 360 camera. Another key difference is that the One R app’s object tracking is now AI-assisted and far more robust, and can even track subjects that are partially obstructed. The One R app is similar to that of the One X although the keyframing controls have been changed to be slightly faster, although it takes some getting used to.
